From the very opening pages of the book, you know something bad has happened. A murder sets the tone right away and immediately hooked me into the web of secrets. The multi-POV structure is one of the novel’s greatest strengths: switching between characters gave the narrative a layered feel and kept me guessing about just who was responsible and why.

One thing I really appreciated was how the story maintained its suspense even after I figured out the likely culprit about two-thirds of the way in. Even with that guess locked in, the payoff still delivered and felt earned. It’s not just about finding the killer—it’s about unraveling how and why everything happened, and Lisa Jewell handles that twisty path with skill.

That said, the pacing did shift occasionally, and while the slow build added to the tension, some parts felt a little drawn out. Overall though, the clever plotting, the voyeuristic tension between characters, and the neighborhood of seemingly perfect people hiding dark truths make this a thriller well worth your time.

If you enjoy psychological suspense with multiple viewpoints, creeping suspicion, and twists that stick with you, Watching You is definitely one to add to your list.

Just cracked open this twisty thriller and WOW — Lisa Jewell wastes no time pulling you into the mystery. Between the suspicious neighbors, the quiet tension, and all the “someone’s definitely hiding something” vibes… I’m hooked already.

Hey everyone! Moving has been a lot and my partner and I are finally feeling a bit settled into our new home. Its been a lot of work but we are happy to be here. So now I need to start off this new adventure with a new thriller/horror book. I just finished unpacking all the books and need your help choosing my next read. Just finished watching Umma this weekend, and I have to say that it was such a treat seeing Sandra Oh step into a horror role! The movie’s premise: grief, generational trauma, and the fear of becoming your mother. It was eerie and fascinating.

It might not be the scariest film out there, but the atmosphere, folklore elements, and Sandra Oh’s performance (I do still think Cristina Yang is her best role) kept me hooked. Plus, there’s something really fun about watching a story where family ties turn terrifying.
